About The Providence St. Mary Regional Spine Center and The Providence St. Mary Neuroscience Institute

About the Providence St. Mary Neuroscience Institute
The Providence St. Mary Neuroscience Institute began as the Whitman Neuroscience Institute in 1981 founded by Dr. Ken Isaacs, Dr. Perry Camp and Dr. Guy Gehling. In the nearly 30 years of treating patients with neurological and neuromuscular conditions at Providence St. Mary they have built a reputation for excellence. As a result our patients often come from as far as Yakima, Washington, Baker City, Oregon, or Lewiston, Idaho. The neurosurgeons, neurologists, and physiatrists at the Institute use a wide variety of proven interventions and techniques to develop a comprehensive and individually tailored program for each patient from diagnosis through treatment and rehabilitation.
The Regional Spine Center housed within the Neuroscience Institute focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of spinal diseases and disorders. The center’s multi-disciplinary team brings together a comprehensive range of cutting-edge surgical and non-surgical treatment options for people with spinal conditions.
About the Providence St. Mary Regional Spine Center
The Regional Spine Center brings together a comprehensive range of surgical and non-surgical treatment options for people with spinal conditions.
In just the past five years, research on spine injuries and diseases has yielded dramatic breakthroughs. Nonsurgical treatment alternatives have multiplied, and new surgical procedures have higher success rates. The Regional Spine Center at Providence St. Mary is at the forefront of spinal care, offering:
Non Surgical Options
- Physical and rehabilitation therapy
- Pain-relieving injections
- Non-narcotic medications
Surgical Options
With many minimally invasive surgical procedures, Spine Center patients experience shorter recovery times, less pain and better long-term results. Most people can have surgery and return home on the same day. Surgery is only considered, however, when all other treatment options have proven inadequate. And, in those cases, advanced methods of back surgery offer increased likelihood of pain relief. Surgeons and neurologists collaborate with physiatrists, anesthesiologists and rehabilitation therapists to see your pain from every angle and to put you on a path to relief.
Our highly trained, experienced physicians have access to the latest imaging and diagnostic equipment, surgical suites and treatment facilities. Since better equipment yields a more accurate diagnosis, we’re proud to offer an open-bore 3 Tesla MRI scanner. The images produced are incredibly detailed, and it’s designed to alleviate claustrophobia concerns and accommodate larger individuals. Patients also appreciate our new needle-free testing technique that’s available for some types of back pain studies.
